Casablanca 2013

Casablanca

14 February – 3 March 2013
The Troxy

Future Cinema, the creators of Secret Cinema, are bringing the world of Casablanca, one of the most iconic films in cinematic history, to the Troxy, with food magnificently brought to life by the team at Moro.

It’s 1941. Desperate to leave a Europe ravaged by war for the United States, people find themselves in Casablanca looking for any means of safe passage across the Atlantic. Exclusive and romantic, Rick’s Café Américain is an escape, not only for the refugees, but the Vichy French, Italian, and Nazi officials who would stop them.

The Troxy, London’s art deco treasure, will be transformed into Casablanca’s most exclusive gin-joint – Rick’s Café Américain. Audiences will be invited to step inside and become a character: gather around Sam’s piano and join in the chorus of the Marseillaise, then dance to Benoit Viellefon and his orchestra.

Sam and Sam Clark, and the Moro team, will create a special menu reflecting Casablanca’s melting pot of cultures including: chicken tagine with preserved lemon and olives; vegetable couscous with sweet onions, raisins and harissa and sweet Moroccan pastries served with mint tea. Re-live the story as never before – through the sights, smells and tastes that embody Casablanca.

Play it again, Sam (and Sam).
